New World: Aeternum is beta testing this weekend on Xbox Series X | S, and is set to launch in October. It’s a reboot of Amazon’s MMORPG that had a great start in 2021 on PC before losing its audience. Now, Aeternum is getting a major update on PC, and is coming to consoles for the first time.
As part of the beta testing, New World: Aeternum on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will feature the ability to select your preferred graphics mode from three:
4K on Xbox Series X or 2K on Xbox Series S.Quality.Performance
For any mode you can set 60 FPS or 30 FPS.
On Xbox Series X, players get full 2160p resolution in 4K mode, but the frame rate rarely reaches 60 FPS, hovering around 35-45 FPS. In Quality and Performance modes, the resolution is around 1440p and also an unstable 60 FPS, regularly dropping to 45 frames. There are no significant differences in terms of FPS stability in Quality and Performance modes.
On the Xbox Series S, the situation is roughly similar to the Xbox Series X, only in 2K mode, players get access to a resolution of 1440p with drops to 40 FPS. In the “Quality” and “Performance” modes, the resolution is at 900p with 60 FPS, which drops to 45.
