As promised, the beta version of the Russian open source game engine Nau Engine was released before the end of the last month of autumn. The first public release of the product took place on November 26.
The beta version of Nau Engine is available to all developers without exception. The engine is a project under the 3-clause BSD license. This means that the community can use the source code without any restrictions.
Developers can fork Nau Engine, develop their products (including commercial ones) based on the engine, add functional modules, create games, or use it for R&D.
The source code and build of Nau Engine can be downloaded from GitHub. The release was accompanied by the publication of a user manual (basic systems, first steps) and documentation for the API for low-level work with the engine code.
Together with the engine, an agnostic scripting system has become available for download on GitHub and use under the 3-clause BSD license, which allows you to connect other programming languages other than C++ as scripting languages.
The agnostic scripting system can work both as an external library for Nau Engine, and as a separate complete product, ready for use in the IT field, including outside of video game development.
Nau Engine is positioned by the team as “development tool of the future”which is suitable for all tasks, for every developer and for any platform (“mobile devices, computers, consoles and even the web”).
