The Polish company CD Projekt reported financial results for the third quarter of the 2024 calendar year, shared current information about projects in development and boasted about the success of Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt’s revenue for the reporting period amounted to 228 million zlotys (about $55.4 million), which is 49% worse than last year. Net profit dropped by 61% to 78 million zlotys (almost $19 million).
Despite the drop in performance, CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz called the quarter “very strong”. It is worth noting that, unlike 2023, the company did not have releases at the level of Phantom Liberty in 2024.
According to Nelyubovich, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still showing decent results, and Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion continue to sell “Very good”.
Moreover, CD Projekt reported that cumulative sales of Cyberpunk 2077 exceeded 30 million copies (25 million last fall), and Phantom Liberty was purchased more than 8 million times (5 million as of the end of 2023).
Meanwhile, an open-world fantasy RPG codenamed Polaris (the first Witcher in a new trilogy) has entered active production. The project employs 400 of CD Projekt Red’s 650 employees.
Another 143 people are involved in the remaining games: 64 on Orion (sequel to Cyberpunk 2077), 42 on Sirius (multiplayer action game based on The Witcher), 18 on Hadar (RPG in the new franchise) and another 19 on other projects (including unannounced ones) .
