As promised, on the night of November 22, the New Zealand studio Grinding Gear Games held a GGG Live broadcast, where they shared new details and footage of the role-playing action Path of Exile 2 in the early access version.
The developers have clarified that early access for Path of Exile 2 starts on December 6 at 22:00 Moscow time on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, separate client), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. There will be no macOS support at the start.
To join Path of Exile 2 Early Access, you must meet one of three conditions:
- buy a new support set from $30 – the option is currently only available on PC (from 1,100 rubles on Steam and from 1,398 rubles on the developers’ website) and Xbox, and will reach PlayStation on December 6;
- have a top tier support set for Path of Exile;
- spend $480 (the amount is the same for all countries and does not take into account regional prices) or more while playing Path of Exile on one platform.
What will happen in Path of Exile 2 at the start of Early Access:
- six of twelve classes (monk, warrior, ranger, mercenary, witch, sorceress) with two (of three) Ascension subclasses each;
- three of the six acts of the story campaign – their first passage will take about 25 hours;
- 50 bosses and about 400 types of monsters;
- more than 100 skill stones;
- a rich endgame (the story about it starts at 46:05) with seven high-level systems – ritual, rift, delirium, expedition, Sekhem test, test of the god of chaos and the flaming monolith.
According to the developers, even at Early Access launch, Path of Exile 2 is a big game. As we move towards a full release, the team plans to approximately double the size of the project.
The authors also added that Path of Exile 2 Early Access features local multiplayer and a cosmetic effects store with microtransactions from the first part. It is not expected that progress will be reset throughout the development of the game.
Path of Exile 2 Early Access will continue “as long as it takes” (but not less than six months). At the release of version 1.0, the game will become shareware and will be developed in parallel with the first part.
