The next game from Naughty Dog (Uncharted series, The Last of Us) led by The Last of Us Part II director Neil Druckmann doesn’t even have a title yet, but it already has its first confirmed voice actor.
As GQ magazine reports in an article dedicated to Troy Baker, the American voice actor and star of past Naughty Dog games will appear in Druckmann’s next project.
Let us remember that in The Last of Us dilogy Baker played the smuggler Joel (he was the main character of the first part), and in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy he gave the voice to Sam Drake, the brother of the protagonist, Nathan.
In a conversation with GQ, Druckmann said that “I’m always ready to work with Troy without any hesitation”but did not share any details of his future project at Naughty Dog with the publication.
Who exactly Baker will play in the new Naughty Dog game and what kind of role it will turn out to be in principle is unclear at this stage. An actor can either return to an already familiar role or try himself in a different image.
Druckmann previously stated that his new game would be reminiscent of the TV series, with an emphasis on environmental storytelling and aimed “to overturn established ideas about gaming”.
In February, Druckmann confirmed Naughty Dog’s plans for The Last of Us Part III. Last December, the studio canceled The Last of Us multiplayer to focus on single-player games (“more than one”).
