Against the background of the long-awaited release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the GOG digital store has added two games to the recently launched GOG Preservation Program that fans of the series from the GSC Game World studio care about.

Let us remind you that as part of the Preservation Program, GOG specialists have undertaken to maintain the compatibility of classic games with modern and future PCs. At launch, the list included just over a hundred items.
As PC Gamer noted, with the release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, two games from the original trilogy appeared in the GOG Preservation Program catalog – STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl (2007) and STALKER Call of Pripyat (2009).
To a reasonable question from one of the X users, what happened to STALKER Clear Sky (2008), GOG answered that the second game in the series in chronological order should join the Preservation Program library soon.
STALKER Clear Sky was a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, and the last of the Call of Pripyat trilogy was its semi-sequel. The cult game GSC Game World has only now received a full-fledged continuation.
The addition of games to the Preservation Program was marked with discounts. Until December 5, STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat are on sale on GOG for 75% cheaper than usual. The promotion also applies to Clear Sky.
GOG previously said that the store’s goal is for all games, whether recent or classic, to become part of the Preservation Program. The projects included in the program were repeatedly tested and improved.
