The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) commented at the request of RIA Novosti on the possible blocking of the post-apocalyptic shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin said that STALKER 2 has “every chance” be banned in Russia if the game contains “illegal information”. According to lawyer Mikhail Mushailov, buyers of the game could potentially be waiting “criminal punishment”.
Answering journalists’ questions about the potential blocking of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl in the country, the press service of Roskomnadzor recalled that the agency introduces restrictions on illegal information by decision of the court and authorized bodies.
“Roskomnadzor restricts access to illegal information on the basis of court decisions declaring information prohibited and decisions of authorized bodies. At the moment, the department has not received such decisions.”said the regulator regarding STALKER 2.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released tomorrow, November 20, on PC (Steam, GOG, EGS, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, as well as Game Pass. The game is not officially sold in Russia: in 2022, GSC Game World removed it from sale in the country, but digital pre-orders already placed remain valid.
