After 15 years of anticipation, one cancellation and several postponements, GSC Game World has finally released the ambitious post-apocalyptic open-world shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is released on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, as well as Game Pass. The release of the game was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer (attached below).
Since 2022, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has not been officially sold in Russia, but digital pre-orders already placed remain valid. Outside the country, the game is available in three editions:
- standard for $60 – includes only the game;
- Expanded for $80 – game, bonus weapons and costumes, additional mission, art book and soundtrack;
- Ultimate for $110 – the game, extended edition bonuses and a season pass for two story add-ons.
The events of STALKER 2 take place 10 years after Call of Pripyat. Players in the role of the lone stalker Skif will have to navigate their way through the Zone to find the “heart of Chernobyl” and determine their fate.
The developers promise a seamless open world with an area of 60 km2hardcore gameplay, a branched plot for 40 hours, at least three endings, graphics on Unreal Engine 5 and text translation into Russian.
In a message about the release, the developers called STALKER 2 a huge game, which is not without its rough edges (see the first ratings from critics). The team promises to closely monitor feedback, quickly fix problems and release patches.
The creators of STALKER 2 will start with small patches, after which they will switch to major updates with “continuous improvements”. There will also be free content – the release schedule will be shared in December.
