The release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 last week went off without a hitch; the game immediately after its release encountered server malfunctions, and then other difficulties. A few days ago, the first hotfix was released, but in a flight simulator on Xbox Series X | S and PC still have a large number of problems. Studio Asobo announced some important decisions and plans on the series’ official website.
Disabling some content
One of the features that has been announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the ability for players to transfer almost all content purchased on the Marketplace from the 2020 version of the game to the new flight simulator. As it turned out, this breaks the game, so players will temporarily not be able to access their content.
We recently migrated much of the Marketplace content from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Community reports indicate that some third-party add-ons are causing serious issues, including preventing users from logging into the simulator. Until we figure out what content is causing these issues, we are temporarily deactivating all non-aircraft MSFS 2020 content from MSFS 2024.
Server performance
According to the Asobo studio, you can now play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with virtually no server-related problems.
According to them, the capacity of the distribution layer has been increased to handle the huge interest in the simulator from the community. Reliability now exceeds 99.999% and servers and services perform as originally expected.
Future updates
Despite all the fixes, there are still issues in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that will be fixed. At the moment the plans are:
- Week of December 2nd – patch with further stability improvements and other fixes.
- The week of December 9 is a larger patch that, among other things, will add the ability for players to disable/enable content themselves.
