Deputy General Director of the Internet Development Institute (IDI) Andrey Voronkov spoke about the organization’s plans for 2025 as part of his speech at the Moscow RED EXPO exhibition.
According to Voronkov, Iran is trying to increase funding every year and in 2025 plans to increase investments in game projects from 1.57 billion rubles (the 2024 figure) to 2 billion rubles.
“At the moment, this amount is planned. In the end, of course, it may be less, but that’s what we’re counting on.”Voronkov said at the panel discussion “AAA games in Russia: a view from management.”
Currently, in pilot mode, Iran is testing a mechanism for financing games as part of a competition with a five-year production period – currently the maximum allowable period is three years.
Voronkov added that the three-year cycle was a kind of cut-off point for large games, because in three years you can manage to implement a project with a large number of developments.
Iran will continue to support both large and medium-sized projects in the amount of 30-50% of the cost. At the same time, IRI invests only in those games in which it sees the proper level of quality.
Voronkov previously reported that over the past three years, Iran has financed about 40 projects. One of them was the historical role-playing action game “Time of Troubles” – Iran allocated about 600 million rubles for the main game and educational applications “Time of Troubles”.
