The Russian segment of Steam turned out to be one of the few whose users were not outraged by the cost of the fantasy role-playing game Avowed from Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment, but the happiness did not last long.
Let us remind you that Avowed pre-orders opened on November 14 on all target platforms, including Steam. The cost of the game abroad was $70, and in the Russian segment it was three times less – 2250 rubles (about $22.50).
The price of the standard edition of Avowed on Russian Steam turned out to be the lowest among all regions of the service, which cannot be said about the extended edition – it was estimated at 5,790 rubles (about $58) versus $90 in the American segment.
In the spring of 2022, Microsoft, along with other large companies, suspended the sale of their games on Russian Steam, so it was obvious that Avowed was available for pre-order by mistake, and it would soon be fixed.
And so it happened. After 10 hours, Microsoft removed Avowed from sale on Russian Steam and banned activation of the game in the region (together with the Belarusian one). For comparison: the pre-order of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II hung (also by mistake) for almost a month.
The events of Avowed will unfold on the island of Living Lands from the world of Eora (Pillars of Eternity), full of mysteries and dangers, where players arrive on the orders of the emperor to study a terrible plague.
Avowed is expected to be released on February 18, 2025 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Battle.net), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Despite the unavailability in the Russian region, the game will receive a text translation into Russian.
