Racing simulators are more likely than other games to be removed from sale due to license expiration. In particular, it is known that Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be sold in December, which the developers warned about back in June. Now it has become known about several more racing projects that will soon no longer be available for purchase on Xbox and other platforms.
Motorsport Games has announced that its rights to use the Nascar license have come to an end. As a result, on December 31, 2024, the following games from the series will be removed from sale in all digital stores:
- Nascar Heat (Nascar Heat 3, Nascar Heat 4 and Nascar Heat 5 are currently available on the Xbox Store, plus numerous DLCs for them).
- NASCAR 21: Ignition (The Xbox store has the game itself in two editions, a Season Pass for it and several car sets).
- Nascar Rivals (Nintendo Switch exclusive).
The developers from Motorsport Games advised players with consoles who want to get Nascar-licensed games for their collection to keep an eye on sales. It looks like they are planning to offer significant discounts on projects closer to the time they are removed from digital stores.
