Lighting artist at Saber Interactive studio Davit Andreasyan is preparing a personal project in his free time – the Lovecraftian horror Nedra, which takes place on a Soviet Antarctic station.
In the story of Nedra, in the lifeless icy wasteland of Antarctica, an abandoned Soviet research station, all of whose employees have disappeared without a trace, hides an ancient, otherworldly creature.
Players in the role of Arthur will have to get into the very heart of the station and uncover the chilling truth, search for ammunition, supplies and tools, constantly balancing between survival, stealth and intense battles.
The main feature of Nedra is the control of body temperature – the Ice Wanderers inhabiting the station feel heat, so in order to avoid detection, Arthur will have to reduce this indicator to a dangerously low level.
However, in this state, the hero risks freezing to death, so he is sometimes forced to increase his body temperature (a mixture of iodine and alcohol is responsible for this), which, in turn, makes the protagonist vulnerable to the Ice Wanderers.
The developer promises a deep story with three endings, horror at every turn and an atmosphere inspired by the novel Solaris by writer Stanislaw Lem and the horror film The Thing by director John Carpenter.
Nedra is expected to release during the second quarter of 2025 (that is, between April and June) on Steam. The game will receive support for eight languages, including Russian, but the voice acting is announced only in English.
