Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be released on both PC and consoles, but so far the developers from Firaxis Games have only shown the PC version. A new gameplay trailer shows how the global strategy will play on consoles.
When bringing Sid Meier’s Civilization VII to consoles, Firaxis completely redesigned the interface, integrating a radial menu for easier access to the most popular systems.
Specifically, the PS5 version of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will have support for DualSense controller functions such as haptic feedback – for example, when war is declared, the gamepad will begin to pulsate, depicting the call of a battle horn.
At launch, the game will receive cross-play support between PC and consoles. Online matches will unfold across three eras (there will be an option to skip them): Antiquity and the Age of Discovery are designed for five players, and modernity accommodates eight.
According to Firaxis executive producer Dennis Shirk, the new game will be the first in the series to be released on all platforms at once. Firaxis intends to develop Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on PC and consoles in parallel.
The developers of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII promise a gameplay revolution that should solve one of the main problems of the series, a well-developed world, full translation into Russian and long-term support.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is expected to release on February 11, 2025 on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux), EGS (PC), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch. Premium editions include access to the game starting February 6th.
