Several large sites for watching anime immediately became unavailable to users from Russia. These include the portals AnimeGO, AniMedia, jut.su and YummyAnime, which are popular among fans of the genre. At the same time, these portals continue to open from other countries.
According to the TASS agency, the sites animego.org, jut.su, yummyanime.tv and amedia.site were included in the register of prohibited resources of Roskomnadzor on the basis of Federal Law No. 149-FZ of July 27, 2006 “On information, information technologies and information protection ” However, the specific nature of the prohibited content that caused the blocking is not disclosed.
The creators of YummiAnime released a statement announcing that they are working to fix the problem: “The site is currently unavailable in some countries through no fault of ours. We are looking into the situation and thank you for your understanding.” AnimeGO administrators also confirmed the blocking, but noted that the exact reasons remain unknown.
Social media users have speculated that the restriction could affect most major anime content platforms. Note that in January 2024, Roskomnadzor had already blocked more than 10 such resources. We also recall that the famous Anilibria project was blocked by a court decision in 2019.
