On December 4, it became known that the publishing house Ubisoft had decided to stop supporting the game xDefiant. At the same time, almost 300 employees were fired and 2 game studios were closed: Ubisoft Osaka and Ubisoft San Francisco. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot addressed employees after these events, noting that he was doing everything possible for the company’s success.
In a statement, Yves Guillemot thanked the employees who worked on xDefiant. According to the head of Ubisoft, they aimed to create the best shooter on the market, but they failed, so the game was closed. He promised that all laid-off employees would receive the necessary support.
Yves Guillemot also said that he works “tirelessly” to make the company successful:
You should know that I am truly working hard to ensure that Ubisoft gets through the current difficult times. I work tirelessly with other leaders to find better solutions that allow us to maintain control of our destiny.
Our company is an incredible treasure that we have built over the past 38 years. She is the main thing for me, she is part of my DNA.
Let us remember that earlier there were rumors that Ubisoft could be sold to Tencent.
