In the first nine months of 2024, 564 thousand crimes were committed in Russia in the field of information and communication technologies. The total damage from the actions of attackers during this period amounted to 150 billion rubles.

Temirlan Salikhov, head of the department of forensic support of the investigation – head of the first department of the technical and forensic department of the State Criminalistics Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, at the conference “Antifraud Russia 2024”.
The share of crimes related to high technology amounted to 40% of the total number of crimes, and the increase compared to the same period last year was an impressive 15.3%. Telephone fraud accounted for 353 thousand crimes, which is significantly more than the 281 thousand cases recorded between January and September last year. At the same time, the number of cases of theft of funds from bank cards decreased from 119 thousand incidents in 2023 to 77 thousand incidents this year.
Last month it became known that the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation wants to create a database of voice samples of telephone scammers to combat them. According to the head of the department, Maksut Shadayev, the authorities are now discussing the implementation of a large package of measures to combat fraud. The creation of a biometric database is one of the items on the list of these measures.
