Publisher Owlcat Games and Polish studio Another Angle Games at the OTK Winter Games Expo presented a new trailer for the turn-based role-playing game Shadow of the Road in the setting of feudal Japan with elements of magic and steampunk.

Let us remind you that the events of Shadow of the Road will unfold in 1898, when Japan found itself at a crossroads between a precious historical heritage and the ruthless march of progress. The fate of the country hangs in the balance.
The head of the shogun’s spies instructs the ronin Satoru and Akira to protect a boy in whom powerful, uncontrollable magic lies dormant. Players will have to assemble a squad of unique characters and go around all of Japan.
The Shadow of the Road gameplay trailer, which debuted at the OTK Winter Games Expo, shows a confrontation between a ronin and a scorpion robot (with an unexpected outcome), picturesque Japanese landscapes and excerpts from turn-based battles.
Players in the comments under the video were impressed by the mixture of steampunk aesthetics and feudal Japan. “Samurai Wasteland”,” user jonatanrobledo9812 has already called Shadow of the Road.
They promise a meeting with magical youkai and deadly steam mechanisms, characters with their own motivations and skill sets, classic turn-based battles with a samurai accent and translation into Russian.
Shadow of the Road is being created for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store) and does not yet have even an estimated release date. In August it was reported that the game was in one of the early stages of development.
