Turn 10 and NVidia have confirmed that racing simulator Forza Motorsport will receive an update on PC that will add Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting. The update will become available on December 9.
The announcement notes that the new technology will improve the game’s existing lighting. It will be able to calculate more accurate indirect lighting and occlusion on tracks and cars in real time, thereby enhancing realism in terms of graphics quality. The new global illumination feature with ray tracing will be applied to all components of the game: gameplay, cinematics, photo mode and more.
The new Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting option will not be enabled in the game by default; after the update, PC users will need to go into the settings and set “Raytracing Quality” to “Full Reflections + RTGI”, and also select the quality level in the “RTGI Quality” section .
NVidia presented several screenshots that show what Forza Motorsport will look like with the new technology (you can see them in their original quality here).
As a reminder, Forza Motorsport natively supports ray tracing on both PC and Xbox Series X | S.
