Developers from the American Nightdive Studios (owned by Atari) presented the final trailer of The Thing: Remastered as part of the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2024 and announced the release of the game on all target platforms.
Let us remind you that The Thing: Remastered is a re-release of the horror shooter The Thing (2002) based on the horror film “The Thing”. The release was expected before the end of 2024, but Nightdive hid the exact date until the last minute.
The announcement of The Thing: Remastered at PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2024 should have been a surprise, but the surprise effect was spoiled by a recent publication on the Xbox Wire blog.
Be that as it may, The Thing: Remastered is out and available on PC (Steam, GOG), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, as well as through the GeForce Now cloud service. On Russian Steam the game is sold for 1100 rubles.
Users of the Valve service greeted The Thing: Remastered with “very positive” reviews (the rating is 97%). Players appreciated Nightdive’s work and noted the powerful effect of nostalgia.
Players take on the role of Captain J.F. Blake to travel to the Outpost 31 research facility in Antarctica, command a squad of four, hunt down impostors and fight terrible monsters.
Support for 4K and 120 fps is announced, achievements, graphics improvements (models, textures, animations, effects, lighting) and no scripted transformations. There is no support for the Russian language in the release.
