Microsoft is actively promoting the idea that a player should be able to access their library of games on any platform. To this end, several years ago they released the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, which allows you to run a once-purchased game on Xbox consoles and PCs through the Microsoft Store, while still having access to the same saves.
But Steam players in single-player Xbox titles that don’t support cross-platform saves were unable to access their saves from Xbox consoles or the PC version of the game from the Microsoft Store. For example, this problem exists in Starfield, where the game shares saves between Xbox consoles and the PC version from the Microsoft Store, but not common saves with the version from Steam.
The new Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is designed exclusively for single play, supports shared saves between versions from the Xbox and Steam stores. In the game, you can set it in the settings so that saves are uploaded to a shared Xbox account and are available on any device.
Thus, players can start playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on their Xbox Series X console, and then continue on PC via Steam. However, to do this you will have to purchase the Steam version of the game separately.
