The analytical agency iKS-Consulting published a study of the Russian virtualization market for 2023. Experts analyzed more than 60 domestic solutions on the market, including the server virtualization and desktop virtualization (VDI) segments, and also presented a market development forecast and key technology trends. Basis was recognized as the market leader: its share reached 30%, which is twice the figure of its closest competitor.
According to analysts, Basis occupies a leading position in all market segments. In server virtualization, the vendor’s share reached 27%, and in VDI – a record 52%, which provided a 43% lead over the next player. In addition, the Basis ecosystem is named the largest product portfolio among all Russian virtualization vendors.

According to the study, the volume of this market in Russia in 2023 almost doubled compared to 2022, increasing by 98% – from 5.1 to 10.1 billion rubles. In 2024, growth is predicted by 42% – up to 14.4 billion rubles, and the average annual growth rate until 2030 is estimated at 23.2%.
The most dynamically developing segment was server virtualization, which accounted for more than 75% of the market in 2023. Its volume amounted to 7.57 billion rubles. with an average annual growth rate of 151%. The high demand for server virtualization is due to its benefits for business: centralized server management simplifies the scaling of IT infrastructure without significant investment in hardware.
The VDI segment is valued at RUB 1.93 billion. The five largest players occupied 81% of the market. The average annual growth rate from 2021 to 2024 was 112%. According to experts, until 2028 the VDI segment will grow faster than the entire virtualization solutions market.
