The once domestic developer of casual mobile games Playrix ceased operations in the country in 2022, and is now left without a Russian legal entity.
As reported by the RB portal, the Playrix legal entity in Russia – Aytidev Lab LLC (Playrix LLC until last November) – was sold to businessman Pavel Räikkönen as part of a deal on December 9.
Räikkönen, who is the founder and CEO of the gaming industry ecosystem WN, acquired a 100 percent stake in the capital of IT Lab LLC with a nominal value of 500 million rubles.
Before Räikkönen, the company was owned by the Cyprus offshore company Rimute Holdings. In a comment to Forbes, Playrix representatives said that the studio sold its legal entity in Russia back in 2023.
Playrix was founded in 2004 by brothers Dmitry and Igor Bukhman and until 2019 was located in Vologda (Aitidev Lab LLC was registered there). Subsequently, the studio’s headquarters moved to Ireland.
The CNews portal adds that the revenue of IT Lab LLC for 2023 amounted to slightly less than 607 million rubles – this is noticeably lower than the result for 2021, when the same figure exceeded 4.4 billion rubles.
Meanwhile, research company Appmagic reports that in 2024 Playrix entered the top 10 international publishers in terms of revenue from in-game purchases (more than $1 billion).
