Creative director Jonathan Dumont shared new details about the pseudo-historical action movie Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a Q&A session on Reddit along with other team members.
Let us remind you that the events of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will unfold in the open world of feudal Japan in 1579. There are two main characters – the dexterous and secretive shinobi Naoe, as well as the legendary dark-skinned samurai Yasuke.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be the heir to the ideas of Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla, so it will be long. According to Dumont, estimating the costs of completing open-world games is difficult, but not impossible.
In terms of the duration of the main plot, “Shadows” is comparable to Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla (according to the HowLongToBeat portal, it is from 30 to 60 hours), and in terms of the territory for exploration, it is exactly with Origins.
In addition to its significant length, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will inherit other elements from Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla, including role-playing elements like dialogue options. A notable innovation is associated with them in the future game.
Dumont revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature a so-called Canon Mode, in which no decisions will have to be made – the game will make it for the user.
The developers of Assassin’s Creed Shadows spent the extra time before release due to the September postponement, among other things, improving the mechanics of parkour, parrying and cinematic transitions.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on February 14, 2025 on PC (Steam, Ubisoft Connect, EGS), Mac (App Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. According to rumors, a co-op mode is in development for the game, but it is not expected at release costs.
