Developers from Ubisoft continue to share details about the expected game Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. It will be released on February 14, 2025, and previews should appear in January. As part of a new interview, the game’s creative director Jonathan Dumont commented on the duration and talked about the canonical mode.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows duration
Since Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is an open world game, its length is difficult to estimate. From the looks of it, players can expect somewhere between 30 and 60 hours to complete the story campaign. According to Dumont, the completion time is comparable to Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla:
Length is difficult to estimate in an open world game, since different players will have very different ways of consuming content. I think the main story of Shadows is comparable in terms of completion time to Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.
If you look at the duration of these games in the HowLongToBeat service, you can see that it varies significantly. Origins takes 30 hours to complete, Odyssey takes 45 hours, and Valhalla takes about 60 hours. The numbers are provided to complete the main story only.
About elections in the game and canonical mode
In Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, players will be able to make choices that affect future events. According to the developers, they will not greatly affect the plot:
As for the choices in the game, they are present and some of them have an impact, but they play a smaller role in the branching of the main plot than in Odyssey.
Elections play a big role in recruiting allies and romantic relationships with some characters. Because the fan base is ambivalent about the idea of branching dialogue, we’ve included an option called CANON MODE, which allows you to play the game with the choices already made for you.
Previously, the developers of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows showed the combat system in the game on video.
