Publisher Capcom announced a new game at The Game Awards 2024, which was Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The project was announced for release on Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 5 and PC.
At the moment, there are quite a few details about Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The developers presented a debut trailer, but there is no gameplay in it. The release window was set to 2026.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will offer players dynamic melee combat. The game is set in a dark fantasy setting, where the main character will face off against enemies from the underworld known as Genma. Players will take on the role of a samurai wielding the Gauntlet of Oni, a mystical artifact that allows them to defeat Genma.
The Onimusha franchise was first launched in 2001. It has also actively developed outside the gaming industry. In particular, Netflix released an animated series based on the series.
