As expected, the 2024 Game Awards announced Split Fiction, the next co-op game from Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two, A Way Out) and Electronic Arts.
The plot of Split Fiction revolves around antipodean writers: Mio writes science fiction, and Zoya writes fantasy. After the heroines are hooked up to a machine to steal their ideas, they find themselves locked into their own plots.
To escape with their memories intact, Mio and Zoe will have to rely on each other, work together, learn different skills and overcome challenges as they travel between sci-fi and fairy tale worlds.
“You’ve just tamed a cute dragon, and now you’re fighting cyberninjas, running away from terrifying trolls, or dodging hovercars thrown at you by a robot parking attendant.”the authors intrigue.
The debut trailer for Split Fiction showcases the plot and intense gameplay moments, and includes commentary from Hazelight head and It Takes Two director Joseph Fares.
According to Fares, users of Split Fiction are waiting for “the most epic co-op adventure yet” in the history of the studio without annoying monetization elements: “No loot boxes, microtransactions or nonsense”.
Following the prediction of insider billbil-kun, the release of Split Fiction is expected on March 6, 2025. The project is being created for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The cost will be $50 – one copy is enough for two people to play.
