Shortly before the release, the PC version of the shooter Atomic Heart from the Mundfish studio in Russia and a number of CIS countries disappeared from Steam and became exclusive to the VK Play service. It seemed like it would always be like this, but no. However, the happiness did not last long.
As Steam users noted, on December 16, Atomic Heart returned to the Russian segment of the Valve store without explanation and even became available for purchase – at the time the page was deleted in the fall of 2022, there was no such option.
It all started too well – on Russian Steam the game turned out to be cheaper than on VK Play:
- standard edition – 1999 rubles (versus 2499 rubles in VK Play);
- gold edition – 2999 rubles (3199 rubles);
- premium edition – 3299 rubles (3599 rubles).
It is worth noting that the chosen pricing policy made the version of Atomic Heart on Russian Steam the cheapest (and by a noticeable margin) among all the regions where the game is available.
The music didn’t play for long. Less than an hour later, Atomic Heart again became unavailable on Russian Steam. The link started displaying the familiar warning again: “This product is not available in your region”.
Together with the Russian Atomic Heart, it also appeared in the Kazakh segment (where the game was priced at 16,999 tenge). Neither Mundfish nor the VK Play administration have yet commented on the situation.
Atomic Heart was released in February 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. The game received two of the four planned DLCs, and the third add-on – Enchantment Under the Sea – recently got a date release.
