The Main Radio Frequency Center (GRFC, part of Roskomnadzor) will purchase licenses to use software designed to generate baits and traps for hackers. Data on the government procurement portal indicates that the supplier of such solutions was selected on December 13. It was a domestic software developer in the field of information security, Angara Assistance LLC.

The contractor must install Xello Deception software for 13.1 million rubles. Due to this, several decoy servers with hundreds of devices imitating real ones will appear in the department’s infrastructure. GRCHTs will be able to use this solution within a year. “Xello Deception is needed to ensure enterprise information security”,” a representative of Roskomnadzor commented on this issue.
Let us remind you that the Xello Deception company produces a software product of the same name in the Distributed Deception Platforms class, which is used to mislead hackers who have gained access to protected infrastructure. Software products of this type are capable of imitating elements of infrastructure, making them real for hackers. In a virtual environment, the customer deploys a fake infrastructure, including computers, servers, printers, network devices, and various industrial and household devices connected to the network. At the same time, real actions are simulated on all these devices – traffic, entry-exit, etc.
For real users, such traps are hidden, since their work does not involve interaction with them. In this case, any use of such a trap is regarded as potential attacker activity. When an attacker tries to gain access to enterprise resources, the system redirects him to a trap – some kind of fake service, database, or something else. Due to this, the hacker can be distracted from his real goals, and the longer the attacker is distracted, the greater the chances of him being detected and neutralized.
According to the source, the total market volume in the Deception category will be about 1 billion rubles in 2024. According to some experts, with further popularization of the technology, the market size could double in the coming years. In addition to Xello Deception, other companies are working in this direction on the Russian market, including Garda Deception, AVSoft, LOKI, R-Vision TDP, etc. Some organizations continue to use previously purchased analogues from foreign suppliers, among which the Israeli product TrapX is the most popular .
