Starfield released last year, and many players criticized Bethesda for the large number of loading screens in it. When moving around the world, loading occurs regularly, and one of the most popular mods for PC at the start of the game removed these screens.
As it turned out, the developers from Bethesda surprised not only the players with a large number of downloads to Starfield, but also their former colleague who worked on the game. Studio veteran Nate Perkipaila, who worked at Bethesda from 2007 to 2021 and left for the final creation of Starfield, gave an interview. In it, he stated that during the development of the game such a number of loading screens were not observed:
The game could exist without these loading screens. For example, some of them weren’t there when I was working on it, so it was a surprise to me that there were so many of them on release.
Previously, Digital Foundry explained that planets and outer space in Starfield are separate sections that need loading to improve the game world from a graphical point of view, as well as to improve performance.
In Starfield, loading screens can be made more interesting by using your own in-game screenshots.
