STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released on November 20, and a month has passed since then. The developers have released several patches and said that in early 2025 they will share plans for the development of the game in terms of new features and content, as well as continue to release updates to fix problems in it.
STALKER 2 is currently only available on Xbox Series X | S and PC. Despite the lack of a Playstation 5 version, the game has already become profitable, but on Sony’s console, developers can gain a new audience and additional sales.
The publication tech4gamers asked the authors of the game whether they plan to release a version for Playstation 5. One of the development managers, Evgeniy Grigorovich, said that the studio is completely focused on developing the game for current platforms:
We’ve been completely focused on developing (and now supporting) the PC and Xbox Series X versions | S.
In 2021, as part of the trial between Epic Games and Apple, Xbox Vice President Laurie Wright said that Microsoft and GSC Game World had entered into a temporary exclusive agreement for the game STALKER 2 for a period of 3 months. Phil Spencer recently said that he doesn’t even remember the details of the Microsoft deal for STALKER 2, so he can’t say why the game became an exclusive. In an interview with Evgeniy Grigorovich, they also asked whether it was true that the deal with Xbox had a duration of 3 months, to which he replied:
We do not comment on leaks, rumors or speculation. Again, versions of STALKER 2 for PC and Xbox Series X | S are the only ones we have developed and support.
According to plans, the authors of STALKER 2 will release at least 2 DLCs, multiplayer and mod support for the game.
