The Kommersant newspaper, citing data from software developers for computer clubs Langame and SmartShell, spoke about the successes of this area in Russia by the end of 2024.
Revenue in the segment of Russian computer clubs at the end of 2024, Langame reports, increased by 13% compared to 2023 and reached 26 billion rubles. The SmartShell report includes other indicators: 4.5% and 25 billion rubles.
Information about the total number of computer clubs in Russia also varies among manufacturers. Langame reports 3.1 thousand establishments, and SmartShell founder Roman Ivashkevich assures that the number has exceeded 3.3 thousand.
According to Langame CEO Dmitry Lukin, the market is now growing due to development in the regions – they account for more than two-thirds of clubs in the Russian Federation – but their impact on revenue, adds Ivashkevich, is not so noticeable.
An additional impetus for development was given by the industry’s attempts to increase prices for services (the increase ranged from 7 to 11%) and the growing need among young people to communicate through video games.
According to experts, the industry is held back by the fact that computer clubs are not included in the register of sports facilities of the Ministry of Sports, as well as the high cost of loans – it slows down the opening of new sites using borrowed funds.
At the same time, Ivashkevich believes that the market is far from saturation and “will continue to grow for another four to five years”. Lukin added that in 2025 we can expect the segment to grow by 10% at worst, and by 20–25% at best.
