CEO of GSC Game World and head of development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Evgeniy Grigorovich, in an interview with Tech4Gamers, commented on rumors about the release of the post-apocalyptic shooter outside the current target platforms.
Let us remind you that STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released only on PC and Xbox, however, in the Microsoft documents cited in the case between Apple and Epic Games from 2021, it was mentioned that the period of console exclusivity for the game will be three months.
Last week, businessman Maxim Krippa, who is a co-owner and investor of GSC Game World, said that the team has already begun work on porting the game to “other platforms”.
It was assumed that we are talking about a release on PS5, but Grigorovich refuted these theories in an interview with Tech4Gamers: “We are completely focused on developing (and now supporting) versions for PC and Xbox Series X/S”.
“We do not comment on leaks, rumors or speculation. I repeat, the versions of STALKER 2 for PC and Xbox Series X/S are the only ones that we have developed and support.”,” Grigorovich said in response to a question about the game’s three-month exclusivity.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl debuted on November 20 on PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store, EGS), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Sales in two days after the release exceeded 1 million copies – according to Crippa, the game has already paid for itself.
In recent days, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has received several patches at once, including a huge 1.1 (110 GB and 1800 changes). Update 1.13 was the last for the game in 2024 – the next one will be released at the beginning of 2025.
