The head of Roskachestvo (ANO “Russian Quality System”) Maxim Protasov, in an interview with the TASS news agency, announced the department’s plans to take on checking popular computer games.
According to Protasov, the start of the initiative is scheduled for 2025. First of all, Roskachestvo will pay attention to manipulative mechanics, that is “ways to extract money from players”.
“Roskachestvo’s Center for Digital Expertise will analyze what techniques can influence the behavior of players, including children, what risks they carry, and to what extent games lead to addictions.”– said Protasov.
The head of Roskachestvo added that as a result of this study, the department plans, together with the Internet Development Institute (IRI), to create a methodology for assessing the quality of games that will allow the buyer to understand whether the product has received the Quality Mark.
In 2025, Roskachestvo will also explore mobile applications for the delivery of ready-made food, trading platform programs and telemedicine. In 2024, the agency conducted 57 data privacy audits across various applications.
In the fall, an experiment on content labeling began in Russia, which should protect developers from potential legal claims from regulators, and consumers from uncomfortable elements of games.
Meanwhile, the authors of the bill “On activities for the development and distribution of video games in the Russian Federation”, already submitted to the State Duma, hope to protect “morality, rights and interests of citizens”.
