The developers of the ambitious role-playing MMO shooter Pioner from the Russian studio GFA Games were tired of the same questions about the game, so they decided to answer everything at once in one publication.
Firstly, Pioner will be a paid game with microtransactions – only cosmetic items are planned that do not stand out from the atmosphere of the project. The studio considers this solution to be the most balanced.
Secondly, Pioner will be released in 2025, first on PC via Steam (Windows and Linux), and then on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise cross-play, but without compromising balance – players on PC and consoles will not be able to play with each other .
Thirdly, after the release, the developers plan to regularly update Pioner – we are talking about fixes, balance adjustments, additional content and major expansions that “will open up new horizons and significantly” increase peace.
Fourthly, Pioner is based on Unreal Engine 4, and there are no plans to switch to UE5 due to its hardware requirements. GFA does not want to sacrifice accessibility and strives to ensure stable operation of the game on “not the most advanced» PC.
Other Pioneer details from the developers’ answers to questions:
- the island of Tartarus, on which the game takes place, is divided into zones – PvE content is concentrated on the left side, and PvP on the right;
- everywhere PvP operates only in the Shadow Lands, and separate zones with PvP rules are implemented in Middle-earth;
- You can overcome the story campaign alone and complete closed missions without the participation of other players;
- in a cooperative they will only allow you to complete some quests;
- To complete the main story and in general, it is not necessary to participate in PvP;
- there will be voice and text chat (global, by region, team or clan);
- there will be an anti-cheat;
- there will be endgame content;
- there will be unique types of armor and costumes with their own characteristics and features;
- You can get the best equipment in PvE and PvP, but it is more important to have drawings and resources;
- artifacts are expensive, and getting them is difficult and can only be done with the appropriate equipment.
The events of Pioneer will unfold during the times of the USSR. The island of Tartarus was isolated from the rest of the world by a man-made anomaly. There are dangers at every turn, a wide arsenal and a bestiary.
