As the years go by, sales of Nier: Automata continue to grow. The official microblog of the elegant philosophical action game from Square Enix and PlatinumGames reported on the new successes of the game.
Let us remember that the last time Square Enix reported on the results of Nier: Automata was last winter. By the seventh anniversary of its release—February 23, 2024—sales of the game exceeded 8 million copies.
As it became known, to date, total shipments and digital sales of Nier: Automata have reached 9 million copies. Thus, over the past 10 months, the almost 8-year-old game has added another 1 million units to its account.
What exactly triggered the jump in sales is unclear, but on November 20, a paid add-on with content from Nier: Automata was released for the popular post-apocalyptic action game Stellar Blade on PS5.
Nier: Automata takes place in the distant future: humanity has been driven from Earth by mechanical creatures from another world. In an attempt to destroy the invaders and return the planet, android soldiers 2B, 9S and A2 are sent to it.
Since its original release, Nier: Automata has been released on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The version for the hybrid console, released in October 2022, was the first to support the Russian language.
Nier: Automata received critical acclaim upon release and has earned a cult following in the community over the years. An anime series Nier: Automata Ver1.1a based on the game started in January 2023.
