For several years now there have been rumors about the possible release of an updated version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Some insiders say it’s a remake, while others call it a remaster. Previously, information appeared on the network that the Virtuos Games studio was working on this project, and Unreal Engine 5 was used as the engine.
About a week ago, the updated version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was mentioned again. Well-known gaming insider eXtas1s, who often reports accurate information from the Xbox camp, said that he expects the announcement and release of the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in 2025. According to him, the project could be presented as early as January at Xbox Developer Direct.
Now his words are confirmed by journalist and insider Jez Corden, but he expects to see a remaster, not a remake. One of the players on Twitter compiled a list of expectations for a possible Developer Direct in January. Jez Corden added the words “Oblivion remaster” to the games he listed. He did not provide any other information.
Let us remember that earlier insiders said that Xbox has at least 3 more games for 2025, which have not yet been announced. One of them may be a re-release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for modern platforms.
It is expected that in the first half of January 2025, the Xbox team will hold a Developer Direct, its broadcast, where it will talk about game releases for 2025. The company has been holding such a show every year since 2023.
