The first-person psychological indie horror Mouthwashing is not a fun game, but its developers from the Stockholm studio Wrong Organ recently had a reason to rejoice.
As reported by Wrong Organ with the support of Critical Reflex (the publisher of the project), sales of Mouthwashing in three months from the release exceeded 300 thousand copies. The creators of the game admitted that such success came as a surprise to them.
“To be honest, we could not even imagine that we would be able to cross such a mark. Sell more than a quarter of a million copies? – sounds like a joke. And here we are”reads a joint statement from Wrong Organ and Critical Reflex.
Against the backdrop of the achievement, the developers raised a toast “for everyone who shares our passion for oral hygiene” and confessed their impotence: “Seriously, words are not enough to thank you for making this possible.”.
“Thank you everyone for every playthrough, every moment you spent in Mouthwashing, and all the emotions you shared with us. Here’s to our next big achievement!” – the developers are confident.
The plot of Mouthwashing tells the story of the crashed cargo spaceship Tulpar, whose crew members are doomed to a slow death due to the actions of their captain.
Mouthwashing was released on September 26 and is available with a 10 percent discount (441 rubles) as part of the Steam winter sale. The project is nominated for the 2024 Steam Award in the category “Best Game with an Outstanding Story.”
