This year, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced a new spin-off to the Like a Dragon series. It’s called Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, and it’s a rather atypical project for the series, which will tell the story of Goro Majima during his “pirate” adventures.
Previously, the developers of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza have already said that the game’s length is approximately 30% longer than that of the previous spin-off. As part of a new interview, they confirmed and somewhat clarified their information.
Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama said that the developers had no goal to make the game longer than Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. But in the end it turned out that way, because in the new part “the map is huge, there are tons of places to visit, and there are more features that have not yet been announced”. As Yokoyama said, as a result “The volume increased on its own”.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name takes about 12 hours to complete for the main story and about 20 hours to complete all side quests. Thus, for the passage of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, as noted by the director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, “apparently” it will take from 15 to 25 hours.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza releases February 21st on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC.
