Avalanche Studios is currently working on a game called Contraband in collaboration with Xbox. She was introduced back in 2021, but since then there has been no information about her. It was initially reported to be a heist project with an emphasis on combat, co-op and vehicle use, but gameplay was never shown.
Well-known gaming insider Jez Corden, as part of the Xbox Two podcast, told several details that he knows about Contraband:
- Development of the game became a real “nightmare” for the studio. There was a time when the project was close to cancellation.
- Currently playing “began to achieve important results”. According to Corden, Avalanche Studios “worked hard to improve the game”.
- Initially, it was indeed assumed that the main gameplay of the game was focused on transport, but now this could have changed. The insider says that some aspects of the game have been significantly reworked to make the idea of the project more exciting.
Jez Corden doesn’t currently know when Contraband will be released, but he’s positive about the project’s current development process. Earlier this year Tom Warren said that “Of course, the release of Contraband is still a long way off”.
The other day it became known that the art director of the project left Avalanche Studios.
