The head of the Russian 1C Game Studios, Albert Zhiltsov, as part of the 238th episode of the “After the Credits” podcast, commented on the results of the plot card roguelike “Immortal. Tales of Old Rus'”.
Let us remind you that the early access of “Immortal. Tales of Old Rus'” started on June 18 on Steam. In the fall, the game reached VK Play, and on the evening of December 12 it was updated to version 1.0 (simultaneously in both stores).
According to Zhiltsov, “Immortal. Tales of Old Rus'” disappointed 1C Game Studios: release “didn’t justify it at all” hope. The leader added that “unfortunately, nothing good is happening (with the project) yet”.
At the failure “Immortal. Tales of Old Rus’,” adds Zhiltsov, there are objective reasons such as shortcomings of the game itself and the decision to release it on the eve of The Game Awards 2024 ceremony.
“What was going on with our heads, why did we do it? Some kind of nonsense… It is clear that both at the time of TGA and the week after it, everyone was discussing cool questions and whether Ciri was cute or not. No one gave a damn about “Skazki”.”Zhiltsov explained.
Events “Immortal. Tales of Old Rus'” takes place in Belosvetye – a world of heroes and woodpiles, good wizards and evil sorcerers, created by the artist Roman Papsuev.
“Immortal” was supposed to be the beginning of a series of games based on the universe, but the failure puts the plan in jeopardy: “If the situation is not corrected, 1C Game Studios will not make any more Fairy Tales, because simply no one will give money for them”.
