Ken Levine is a famous game designer who created the Bioshock series. In 2014, he founded the studio Ghost Story Games, which has not yet released a single game. It has long been known that the team is working on an immersive sci-fi action game, and at the end of 2022 it was fully presented – this is the Judas game. It still does not have a release date, although it was expected before the end of this year.
In an interview with GamesIndustry, Ken Levine explained why the creation of a new game has been going on for about 10 years. According to him, the reason is “the high stakes” that now have to be made in the gaming industry. This applies to all aspects of the game, especially the story.
Ken Levine says Bioshock was an almost linear story, while Judas was something much more ambitious. At the same time, as the game designer says, the ambitions of the project constantly grew as development progressed. Levine wants to make the game such that the player feels that he is not just moving through the plot, but is immersed in it and literally influencing the events that happen to him. To do this, it is necessary to think through a large number of lines, which was not the case in the game designer’s previous projects.
In the game (Judas) you can choose many directions where you want to go. We haven’t done this in games before. Plot points, as well as the path to them and the list of places visited, will be different for each player, which will ultimately make up his final experience.
Ken Levine notes that Take-Two is not rushing him with the game, for which he is grateful to the publisher. According to him, she will come out when she is ready. Release planned for Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 5 and PC.
