Black Myth: Wukong has become one of the top games in 2024. The project has sold over 20 million copies, and it was released only on Playstation 5 and PC.
About the game version for Xbox Series X | S there were various rumors – about its absence due to exclusivity between Sony and Game Science to difficulties for developers with optimization for Microsoft consoles. Judging by the latest statement by game director Feng Ji on social networks, the lack of an Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong is due to the junior console of the current generation.
Feng Ji, summing up the results of the year and the Steam Awards on the Weibo social network, wrote that “the only thing the game is missing is the Xbox version”. According to him, the Xbox Series S console has only 10 GB of RAM, which became a problem for the Game Science studio, given their lack of experience developing for Microsoft consoles.
This wasn’t a big surprise to me, but I’m still thrilled to have won all 3 awards during the Steam Awards. The only thing missing at the moment is a version for Xbox consoles. Not having it seems a little wrong, but that 10GB of shared RAM, without several years of Xbox optimization experience under its belt, is a limitation that’s hard to work around.
Let’s remember that Phil Spencer was previously asked about the version of Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox Series X | S. He answered the question evasively, without specifying when she should be expected.
