At the very beginning of 2024, it was announced that Halo Infinite would no longer receive new seasons. Then the studio 343 Industries, which was later renamed Halo Studios, announced that it would continue to support the project with Operations, but was already switching to developing new games in the series.
Halo Community Manager John Juniszek took to his social media to summarize the 2024 year for Halo Infinite. According to him, the developers had to make some difficult decisions, but they are happy with how the game looked in the past year:
Taking a step back and reflecting, it was great to see how much Halo Infinite has improved this year. In a world where games can be shut down without warning, I’m glad we were able to deliver so many player-requested features while working on other future projects.
John Juniszek provided an impressive list of changes to Halo Infinite for 2024:
- The appearance of Match Composer (the ability to customize modes for the playlist).
- Opportunity to receive a free set of armor every month.
- New weapon: MA5K Avenger.
- Sandbox rework (jumping with grenades, EMP plasma pistol, DoT effect from Disruptor, etc.).
- 3rd person mode.
- Halo 2 20th Anniversary Content.
- Lots of changes for Forge.
- Reworked network connectivity to resolve desync issues.
- Several new maps and modes.
- And lots of other content with free updates.
Let us remember that in September of this year, insider Jez Corden reported that Halo Infinite is currently a profitable project.
