Publisher SEGA announced at The Game Awards 2024 that it is working on a new game in the Virtua Fighter series. The project is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, known in recent years for the Yakuza (Like a Dragon) franchise.
The developers have published a new video for the game, which does not show actual gameplay from the final Virtua Fighter project, but shows “in-engine footage.” According to the developers, the 35-second clip below offers a look at a “pre-development concept” that doesn’t reflect actual gameplay, but may show some of the mechanics used in the future in the final game.
SEGA plans to evaluate the response to the Virtua Fighter demo to understand how to develop the project further. At the moment it does not have a full name and a list of platforms for release.
