Sony announced last year its intentions to acquire shares of Kadokawa Corporation. Initially, it was assumed that there could be talk of a complete buyout of the company, but later the parties confirmed that Sony would acquire about 10% of the shares. This deal is now officially completed.
On January 7, Sony announced that it had purchased shares of Kadokawa Corporation. Now, in total, Sony owns 10.11% of the company’s total shares and is the largest shareholder.
Deal details:
- Cost of 1 repurchased share: 4146 yen ($26.16)
- Total number of shares purchased: 12,054,100 shares
