Last year, Dying Light: The Beast was announced. Techland studio initially planned to create DLC for the game Dying Light 2, but it grew into a full-fledged game that will tell the story of Kyle Crane, familiar to fans of the franchise.
In an interview with Gamingtrend, Dying Light series director Tymon Smektala said that the developers in each game in the franchise strive to offer something new so as not to get bored of players. From his words it follows that Dying Light: The Beast leans more towards horror games than previous parts:
Each Dying Light should be a little different. If you give players the same game over and over again, it will quickly become boring. Taking the gaming formula at the heart of the franchise, based on the three pillars of natural movement, combat (melee-focused) and the game-changing day/night cycle, and building something new on top of that is what we’re aiming for .
The original game was about survival, while the sequel was more action-oriented. The Beast does the same thing as previous games in terms of foundation, but this time it leans towards horror. That feeling of being in the woods at night, hesitant to take the next step because you know you might suddenly be ambushed. The return of Kyle Crane at least gives you a hardcore character to fight what lurks in the shadows, so perhaps that will curb some of your fears when faced with the horrors of the Castor Woods.
Dying Light: The Beast is due to be released in the summer of 2025 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC. Previously, the developers said that the project could be completed in about 15 hours.
