Publisher Ubisoft faced serious problems last year. After a series of unsuccessful releases, the company’s shares have fallen sharply, and they are currently trading at a 10-year low. Analysts noted that Ubisoft could save the successful release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but today they announced that the project’s release was again postponed – now to March 20, 2025.
Immediately after the news about the postponement of the release date of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the publishing house Ubisoft published a press release with information about its own strategy. In particular, it confirmed that it was considering options for selling the company.
According to a statement from Ubisoft, the company is now “takes drastic measures” on reorganization. It is said that consultants have been appointed for “considering and implementing various strategic and capitalist options for transformation in order to extract maximum benefits for stakeholders”. In other words, Ubisoft is exploring options for sale, which was rumored last year.
Also in its statement, the publishing house Ubisoft indicates that it is taking active steps to reduce costs. Company “will continue to make significant spending cuts and will also maintain a highly selective approach to investment”. It is emphasized that the closure of the xDefiant game is directly related to these processes, and it is also planned to close 3 studios “in high cost regions”.
Earlier, analyst and journalist Jason Schreier noted that there are now 2 main buyers who can compete for Ubisoft.
