The head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, spoke on his microblog about another achievement of official support for modifications in the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3.
Let us remind you that mods for the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 have been released since the game’s release, and official support has made it possible to increase their compatibility with future builds and implement fan creations on consoles.
A patch with mod support was released on PC (September 5) and consoles (October 1) in the fall of 2024. By the end of October, Baldur’s Gate 3 users had installed more than 50 million modifications.
As it became known, at the moment the total number of mods installed through the built-in Baldur’s Gate 3 mod manager has already reached 100 million. Thus, the project conquered this figure in four months (and five days).
For comparison: the game surpassed 100 million downloaded mods from the Nexus Mods website (the main platform before the introduction of official support) in mid-February 2024, that is, six and a half months after the full release.
Official mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3 includes the aforementioned manager and the modding tool BG3 Toolkit. The editor allows you to add new weapons, armor, classes, subclasses, spells, and the like to the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 left early access on August 3, 2023 on PC (Steam, GOG), and then reached Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. In 2025, the game will receive its eighth major patch – stress testing is expected in the near future.
