Onimusha took advantage of this new Capcom Showcase to show up and serve us an extremely promising gameplay shovel.
It was at the Games Awards 2024 that the Onimusha reboot was announced. A license that we didn’t even think about seeing again for all this time. And yet, she will soon have the right to a second youth. While we know practically nothing of the project, the game came to pass a head during Capcom Showcase this evening with a little gameplay.
The new onimusha intends to make the license again shine
Onimusha, it was originally an action game tinged with horror. We embodied a warrior capable of tracking down and killing demons and absorbing energy. The strength of the game was in its slightly demanding and somewhat difficult gameplay. His atypical universe, mixing folklore and horror, was also one of the assets of the franchise, before it poured into the full action with several other games not all very successful. But for decades, it has been flat calm. It was not until the Games Award 2024 that Capcom decided to make us a huge surprise, the announcement of a reboot. The latter is today more with gameplay which promises to be frankly promising. Onimusha has no release date, but a window. The game is planned on PS5, Xbox Series and PC for 2026.
The new game will take up everything that has made the success of the license, but will also add new products. Already, it will be a new hero, different from previous episodes. The game will take place in the surroundings of Kyoto at the time of feudal Japan. Demons will obviously be out and will remain the main threat. The game promises to be visceral, Capcom having emphasized saber fights and have not forgotten the requirement of the series. However, they claim that the game will not be excessively difficult and will remain affordable for fans of pure blood.
The icing on the cake, Capcom announced the arrival of Onimusha 2 in a completely remastered version. Again no release date, but a small trailer that announces that the game will come out of the year 2025 on all consoles and PC.
